How to get there:
There are three different ways of getting to this Island. The first way of getting there is flying, from anywhere in the world to the international airport of Maiquetía Simón Bolívar (the most important airport of Venezuela), situated in the outskirts of Caracas. It is recommendable to take another national flight to the Island Margarita (this flight will take you about 35 minutes). The second way of getting there is to fly directly to the international airport of the Island with a charter-flight from (Germany - Condor), Canada (Air Trans - Montreal), Trinidad (Avior - Spanish port), U.K. (Frist Choice - Gatwick, Manchester) Netherlands (Martinair - Ámsterdam), Spain (Air Plus Cornet - Madrid), Sweden (Tui Nordic - Stockholm), Colombia (Avianca - Bogota), France, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Italy (Air Italia - Milan), Brazil (Tam - Manaus), Czech Republic (ceske Airline - Prag). It is recommendable to book your flight in advance, especially if it is peak season, this way you can book bargain-flights, saving up to 50%. The last way of traveling to this Island is to take a ferry from Guaira, from port Cruz or Cumana, which will take between 3 and 5 hours.
Health:
The sanitary system in Venezuela consists of a public and a private sector. However, we recommend our clients to get a private health insurance, since the public sector collapses sometimes. Nevertheless, in Venezuela you can choose from a wide range of insurances for an excellent price and with well-equipped hospitals and trustworthy and professional doctors.

VISA
Normally, if you are going to the Island once in a while, you can request a visa for temporary residents which will be valid for a year. Residential visas are given to those foreigners who had been temporary residents for at least five years.
There are other types of visa including business visas, which can be received very easily.
BUYING-PROCESS:
Once you have chosen your property, you have to check its documents. The property has to belong to the person or company who is selling it and has to have the same characteristics.
I case you buy a second hand home, you have to go to the land registry and asked for a so-called "Cerficación de Gravamenes", which indicates that the property you are buying is free of any debts (such as community bills and electricity bills)
Later one, the definitive sales contract must be drawn by a lawyer, which you will sign later in the land registry. Please note that all recently paid bills, for water, light, community, etc. must be annexed by the seller. Furthermore, the DNI of the seller and buyer is necessary in order to carry this sell out.
Fees and taxes
According to Tax number 33, when buying a property you have to pay a 0.5% of taxes on the price of the property, if the price is more than Bs.f 110.000. (Seller). Any extra cost for the notary, land registry, lawyers and procedures are between 1% and 2% of the property value (buyer). Furthermore, the buyer has to pay 25.000 Bs.f. a certain tributary cost to the town hall. You don´t have to pay VAT.
